Nice rant.

Of course you never addressed the issues I brought up re dogging Bobby and I can and will continue to participate with my opinion whenever I want! If it "bothers" you - don't click!

YOU may want to do some re-reads yourself of the replys to Max's original post. Apparantly a few others are unhappy with this cheap shot.

What part of: "I'm defending one of the greatest and innovative guitarists of all time" DON"T you understand?

Hey Kim....

Trust me on this, Midnight Sun is one of the most knowledgable and good-natured posters on this forum.

All he's saying is that you replied to him (whether meaning to or not) and attributed statements to him he did not make.

Concerning Bobby's vocal prowess or lack thereof, there are bound to be many varying opinions out there. I like to defend what I call Bobby's "Howard Dean" screams, b/c I thought they were fun and funny, but having seen Ratdog recently, I can tell you, his voice is long gone. And it's arguable it wasn't real great post 1988 or so as well.

Still, I'm a Garcia nut thru and thru and acknowledge straight away that HIS voice was probably the worst in teh band's next to Phil's in the later years and it was often painful to hear him try to sing a tune like Birdson, especially when compared to the beautiful state of his voice on the same song in 1973 or so.

Young Max may have offended your sensibilities re: Bobby's voice/stateof mind, etc., but it's all worthy of discussion without personal attacks. DeadHeads are among the most opinionated people in the world (who else would argue the minutae of the "best" tuning between songs are something equally as ridiculous and have strong feelings about it) but they are also usually among the more understanding and tolerant of other views.

Midnight simply wanted to clarify that you were attributing things to him that were said by someone else, and to point you directly to that person. That he had some opinions of his own along the way that differed from yours shouldn't be cause to get into a "thing" with him. My two cents.
Peace.
GC
